Dr. Lankarani represented Borland Groover Clinic during this year’s 10th annual anniversary meeting of the Society of Gastrointestinal Intervention (SGI) at Seoul (http://www.sgiw.org) to present current research information. Borland Groover clinic was among the other world leaders in the field of gastroenterology such as Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University, UCLA Medical Center, Virginia Mason, University of North Carolina, M.D. Anderson, Washington University, Weill Cornell Medicine, Oxford University, University of Virginia to present our research during this prestigious international conference.
One of the highlights of the conference was introduction of an original classification system for endoscopic differentiation of Gastroesophageal Junction based on a research conducted at Borland Groover Clinic. This new classification system was found to be an instrumental and necessary tool for appropriate selection of patients that could benefit from endoscopic anti-reflux procedure for treatment of GERD. Currently this criterion is undergoing revision and validation by a consortium of gastroenterologist from around the world. We hope to present the final result of this validated endoscopic criteria during the next year’s Society of Gastrointestinal Intervention conference.
